The Mission Statement of The Helping Hand of Greater Little Rock
Mission/Purpose of Agency? We provide assistance to the poor and needy of the Central Arkansas community by providing assistance for human needs (groceries, clothing, medical supplies, and limited financial assistance for rent and utilities); offer hope, encourage self-sufficiency for the poor.
How is our organization different than other area agencies with similar mission/purpose? Helping Hand is run and operated primarily by unpaid volunteers who serve as part of their individual Christian ministry to the poor and needy. We only have two paid staff who provide the day-to-day administrative guidance and consistency. Helping Hand provides groceries based on size of family; the food covers a minimum of one week for an average family of three.
Do we provide a spiritual ministry, and if so, what? Our servant-hood ministry is to provide help to the poor of our community. As an ecumenical organization, we provide a visible presence of God’s love for those who are in need. Further, we are a comprehensive care-giving organization which allows volunteers to provide spiritual counseling, listening, and pray with clients according to individual needs.
