It seems like every time we start to sweat a little bit, about a busted pipe, or lack of food, our benefactors come through for us, and more importantly, those we serve. You make a difference--a huge difference. Soon we will be posting the numbers which illustrate some of the ways we've been able to measure your support, on Our Supporters page. For each and every person who donated to the Helping Hand this past year, we want to thank you. You humble us with your absolute and utter generosity, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. May God bless you for all you do to help those in need!
This year we've seen our share of challenges, but those minor setbacks have been more than offset with the awesome and incredible generosity shown by those whose with giving hearts, who believe in our mission here at Helping Hand. It's hard to keep up with all the people who have helped us. From the major Food Drives in the Fall and Christmas; to our Annual Pledge Drive; to the record-setting volunteer hours given by students and regular volunteers; to our Annual School Supply giveaway; to the beautification bestowed upon our facility during "Make A Difference Day"; to the tons of food donated to Helping Hand to help us feed our clients--each day witnesses complete love of fellow man and generosity.

The Arkansas League of Artists has a wonderful display in the lobby of the U.S. Bank branch at the corner of Spring St. and Capitol, in downtown Little Rock. There, they exhibit one of their member's paintings each month. This month, the feature artist is our own Sister Maria Liebeck, DC!
The painting featured is a beautiful abstract titled, "Holy Family". Sister Maria created Holy Family using a very unique form of paper batik. The painting will be on display for the entire month of January 2014. Our Christmas Toy Drive this year (December 16-Dec 18) was so much fun, and so successful, thanks to all the donations and work from our remarkable Volunteers. So many families will have a much happier and festive Christmas this year thanks to your generosity. We took lots of photos, too! See them all on our Events Page. If you weren't able to contribute before our deadline, you can still help us help those in need by visiting our Donation Page. We are in dire need of funds, due to a leak in the roof, which caused some damage in the office. As always, Food and Clothing Donations are ALWAYS welcome, too! Thank you to all, God Bless you, and we hope everyone has a safe and very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Today’s THV and United Way stopped by Helping Hands, the Pulaski County Distribution Center for THV’s Back to School Blitz, to see all your donations going to kids. Please visit our Facebook page for more on the story. Thank you United Way and Today's THV-11! It's that time of year again, believe it or not! Pretty soon, little ones will be filling the hallways of our schools again. Kids need the proper tools in order to learn, and at Helping Hand we digging in to Help! Mickey and John are longtime volunteers with Helping Hand, and have both served on our Board. They were on hand to generously devote their time to helping Sister Maria set up her booth, and helping her artwork with 100% of the proceeds going to Helping Hand. Mickey and John regaled us with stories of the neighborhood, as well as their courtship. Mickey grew up in the Hillcrest neighborhood and has many fond memories. She grew up on “Beech St”, which is what everyone called Beachwood, back in the day. “There was a movie theater where the Kroger Store is now, and Channel 7 had their studio and TV tower there, too”, recalls Mickey. She worked her way through high school (Mt. St. Mary’s) at the Hillcrest Variety Store, which is now River City Coffee and Tea. Mickey and John met while they were students at Little Rock University, now UALR. “I used to walk over to her house from my neighborhood, which was near Our Lady of Good Counsel,” John told us. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Mickey served on the Helping Hand Board of Directors from 2003-2007. During her tenure she was Board President, as well as Secretary. John served on the Board from 2000-2005. They began volunteering at Helping Hand in 1995. The Ripley’s continue to volunteer their time and talents with the Christmas Toy drive and giveaway every year, Mickey also helps Sister Maria in her studio. We’d like to extend our sincere gratitude to Mickey and John for their years of service, generosity and love. Thank you to all our Volunteers, and God bless each and every one of you! Sister Maria lovingly worked the crowd and helped raise funds, selling her artwork, cards and prints at the Hillcrest Merchant's "Shop N' Sip" last Thursday night. We saw many old friends and made so many new ones, too. God bless all of you for your amazing generosity, as we had a pretty good night! And a lot of fun, too!
