Back on May 12, a burst water pipe was discovered within the wall of the Ladies Restroom, across the hall from the Thrift Shop. The water had been flowing freely for at least 48 hours, and the damage was extensive. Although the original cost of just the water was $1066, Central Arkansas Water credited back almost $500. The clean-up closed Helping Hand for two days, and the restoration and plumbing bill was almost $20,000. After insurance and credits, Helping Hand was still responsible for almost $7000 out-of-pocket.
This comes at a particularly difficult time of year when our food costs and demand are up. We are so blessed for the credits we received and the excellent clean-up work from the restoration service.
